EMSA Approved Pediatric Courses
This EMSA approved pediatric first aid, CPR and AED course is eight hours and covers how to treat the most common childhood injuries and emergencies. It will cover how to treat infants, children, and adults with an emphasis on the pediatric age group.
Your course text will be given to you in class. There will be a one-hour lunch break. Ages 12+.
A single two-year certification card will be issued upon course completion. The required EMSA stickers are included in your class fee and will be issued in class.
Courses approved by CA EMSA and Community Care Licensing
California requires a full eight hour for new and renewal courses if the student is employed in the child care industry.

§ 100000.29. Course Hours and Class Size Requirements.
(a) The initial course of instruction shall consist of no less than eight hours in pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR. Training programs teaching pediatric first aid only are allowed with instruction in pediatric first aid to consist of no less than four hours in addition to a minimum of four hours of pediatric CPR. The eight hour course shall consist of no less than four hours of pediatric first aid and no less than four hours of pediatric CPR. Training programs may teach these four hour courses in pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR separately.
(b) Retraining in pediatric first aid and CPR shall consist of no less than four hours of pediatric first aid and no less than four hours of pediatric CPR. Retraining in pediatric first aid and CPR shall be completed at least every two years.
Various agencies may have funding to reimburse child care center staff, family child care providers, license-exempt child care providers, and in-home providers for the cost of authorized First Aid/CPR and Health & Safety training.

Pediatric Preventative Health and Safety
This 8-hour EMSA approved California Child Care Preventative Health and Safety Practices course meets all of the requirements including the 2016 Nutrition Update. It is designed for California Childcare Providers, Preschool Teachers and Aides. This course is required of all new applicants and provides a lifetime certification in PPH&S.
This course includes all required content including prevention of infectious diseases, prevention of childhood injuries, immunizations, child abuse identification and prevention, healthy eating for children, forms/records/resources, and more.
The objectives of this course is to provide childcare personnel the knowledge, understanding, and tools to operate a safe, healthy, and happy business.
